Chocolate Mousse – but not as you know it…
Honestly, if this dessert had been presented to me without anyone saying what was in it, I would have assumed I was eating a very guilty treat of chocolate and cream. Oh, how my taste buds were deceived!
The Hemsley sisters, authors of the cookbook The Art of Eating Well, have nailed a recipe for a very healthy chocolate mousse.
Their recipe contains an avocado, a frozen banana, 3 tablespoons of cacao powder, 2 tablespoons of honey, a bit of water, a pinch of salt, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract and 1 teaspoon of lemon juice.
I put all the ingredients into my Nutribullet and blitzed the lot. It makes roughly 4 portions. Pop them in the fridge to set and keep cool.
Don’t get me wrong, I will always love bakes and treats full of all things naughty. But when you can eat a dessert that tastes pretty good on a fairly regular basis without feeling you have to go and burn it off the instant it touches your lips – well, I’m in!
Have a go and let me know how you get on.
Wow! This looks delicious and much healthier than regular sugary chocolate mousse, of course π I will give this a shot tonight – maybe with coconut sugar and a pinch of cinnamon! Thank you for sharing this yummy recipe!

Let me know how you get on – I have found another recipe using the avocado base for the mousse and then making a tartlet pastry case out of ground seeds, nuts and dates in which to put the chocolate filling. Will post it when I’ve tried it out.
